Flu vaccines winter 2023
As the winter season approaches, the New Zealand government has launched a nationwide flu vaccine rollout for 2023. The flu vaccine is an essential tool in protecting the population from the influenza virus, which can cause serious illness and even death, particularly in vulnerable populations such as the elderly, young children, and those with underlying health conditions.
The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone aged six months and older, and it is especially important for those at higher risk of complications from the flu. This includes pregnant women, the elderly, young children, and those with chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease.
The flu vaccine for 2023 has been developed to protect against the strains of the flu virus that are predicted to be most prevalent during the upcoming flu season. The vaccine is free for eligible New Zealanders, including those aged 65 years and over, pregnant women, and those with certain medical conditions.
Vaccinations will be from the 1st April 2023 at Queen Street Pharmacy. You will be able to book an appointment online from March 16th using the link here.
Or walk in between 9am - 5 pm Monday - Friday and Saturday clinics will be available on demand.
